As a parent of a competitive swimmer you have the opportunity to become involved with your child and their sport in various ways. By doing so, you're investing time in an activity that matters to them and that goes a long way with most kids, even if they don't want to admit it.
Below are some of the ways you can help. If you have any questions, drop us a line in the form below and we will be sure to get back to you.
In order to hold sanctioned swim meets, we are required to have a number of qualified Officials. Being an Official is a fun way to get involved, get close to the action and learn more about the sport of swimming. There are various levels of swim meet officials from strokes and turns to timers to referee; every single official on deck has an important role in the success of a meet.
Simply put: Swim meets can't happen without volunteers.
No volunteers = No meets. No meets = No swim team!
We are proud to have the opportunity to host two swim meets each year at the YMCA pool. This is a fun event for our swimmers as it gives them an opportunity to shine at home.
Hosting a meet takes a lot of effort, and we rely on volunteers like you! There are many opportunities for parents, grandparents and friends to get involved like: set-up and tear-down, selling snacks/beverages at our concession stand, selling meet programs, or greeting guests as part of our welcoming committee. We need all the help we can get. No matter the job, every effort made helps to make our event a success.
Bingo is our largest fundraiser, and it requires plenty of hands-on help. By volunteering for a Bingo event, you help generate significant funds, which keeps our club from needing other fundraising efforts. Thanks to the support from Riverview Gaming Centre, we’ve been able to purchase new equipment and keep our club costs lower than many other youth sports. It’s a win-win!
Volunteering at Bingo only takes two hours. All you need to do is collect and discard used bingo cards, greet patrons, clean machines, and be a friendly face to attendees.
The Chatham Pool Sharks is governed by a Board of Directors each of whom is elected for a one year term. Directors are elected during the clubs' annual general meeting (AGM) in June or July and you are welcome to nominate yourself or another Shark parent.
The board of directors meets monthly to oversee and direct the operations of our busy club. Every member of the board of directors is committed to working to ensure a positive and rewarding experience for our swimmers and for our parents.
